Antiqued Mirror : DIY project

I spotted this incredible UHURU standing mirror years ago and  wanted to see if I could pull off a smaller version for my living room mantle. I picked up an antique mirror and a black metal frame from Cheap Petes, had the mirror cut to fit and then used acid to further distress the back. I painted over the areas I had stripped in black acrylic paint mixed with a little gold. The ending result, while not as subtle as the Uhuru made me happy and cost about $20. Similar styles are also found at ABC carpet and home in NYC.
